In 2019 I lived and worked on a farm  in southern Vermont. The early mornings caring for the animals, stoking the fire in the sugar shack and walking the sap-lines through the thick sugar maple forested hills filled my minds eye with images of the silent winter. For a few moments the sky would set ablaze with color as the sun came over the horizon,  knocking the chill off of the landscape.
